Solo Female Traveler vs LGBTQ Group Travel: Which Is Right for You?

Solo or group… for LGBTQ women, this decision goes deeper than preference. It's about safety, community, and actually being able to relax. Here's the honest breakdown to help you choose what's right for your next trip.

LGBTQ women laughing together on a group travel trip with Ladies Touch Events and Travel

Here's the question keeping you up at night: You're scrolling through Instagram, seeing photos of women living their best lives in Bali, Morocco, and Puerto Vallarta. Your PTO is burning a hole in your calendar. You know you want to travel. But should you go solo or join a group?

If you're an LGBTQ woman, this decision feels even more loaded. Because it's not just about preference: it's about safety, community, and whether you'll spend your entire trip code-switching or actually relaxing.

Let's break down both options so you can make the choice that's right for your next adventure.

The Honest Truth About Solo LGBTQ Women's Travel

Solo travel has been romanticized to the point of mythology. And yes, there's something undeniably powerful about navigating a foreign city on your own terms, making spontaneous decisions, and proving to yourself that you can.

But here's what the Instagram influencers don't always show you.

The Freedoms of Solo Travel

Complete autonomy: Wake up when you want, eat when you want, change plans on a whim. You're on nobody's schedule but your own.

Self-discovery: There's something transformative about being alone in a new place. You learn what you're capable of, what you actually enjoy (versus what you do because someone else wants to), and who you are when no one is watching.

Budget flexibility: Want to splurge on a fancy dinner one night and eat street food the next? Solo travel means you answer to no one about how you spend your money.

Pace control: Introvert who needs three hours of alone time to recharge? Extrovert who wants to party until 3 AM? When you're solo, your energy level dictates the day.

The Hidden Challenges of Solo LGBTQ Travel

But let's talk about what the travel blogs conveniently leave out, especially for queer women.

The loneliness hits different: Sure, you can meet people. But at the end of a long day of sightseeing, you're eating dinner alone, processing experiences alone, and sleeping in an empty room. For some people, that's peaceful. For others, it's isolating.

The safety calculation is constant: As an LGBTQ woman traveling solo, you're always doing math in your head. Is this neighborhood safe at night? Should I lie about being queer to this taxi driver? That mental load is exhausting.

The straight world never stops: Every hostel common room, every tour group, every beach, you're usually one of the few queer people there. Which means endless conversations where you're either:

  • Coming out to strangers (again)

  • Pretending to be straight to avoid awkwardness

  • Fielding invasive questions about your "lifestyle"

  • Being the token gay friend people want to adopt

Decision fatigue is real: Every meal, every activity, every transportation choice falls on you. No one to bounce ideas off. No one to say, "Actually, I read that restaurant has terrible reviews." Just you, Google Maps, and hope.

Missing shared moments: You see the most beautiful sunset of your life... and there's no one to turn to and say, "Are you seeing this?" Those moments hit differently when there's no one to share them with.

The Reality of LGBTQ Women's Group Travel

Group travel gets a mixed reputation. People imagine forced fun, inflexible schedules, and being stuck with strangers you don't vibe with.

But LGBTQ women's group travel? That's an entirely different perspective.

The Community Advantage

Instant chosen family: You arrive as individuals. You leave as a group chat that's still planning the next trip together. There's something magical about traveling with women who just get it… no explanations, no code-switching required.

Safety in numbers: Walking through a new city at night? Going to a beach party in a foreign country? Navigating local transportation? Everything feels less risky when you're not alone. And for LGBTQ women, that safety calculation changes dramatically.

Built-in accountability partners: "Should I book that sketchy-looking excursion?" "Is this price fair, or am I being scammed?" You have people to reality-check your decisions.

Shared costs, shared experiences: Splitting taxis, sharing appetizers, getting the group rate on activities, group travel can actually be more affordable than solo. Plus, you're creating memories with people who'll actually remember them with you.

No awkward "party of one" moments: Ever tried to get into a club solo? Or book a table at a nice restaurant for one? Or join a beach volleyball game when you're the only single person? Group travel eliminates all of that.

Local expertise you can trust: With a company like Ladies Touch that's been curating LGBTQ women's trips since 2016, you're not just getting a guide… you're getting someone who knows where queer women actually feel welcome, not just tolerated.

The Potential Downsides of Group Travel

Let's be real about the challenges, because group travel isn't perfect either.

Less spontaneity: There's a schedule. The group is going to the spice market at 10 AM, whether you feel like it or not. If you thrive on changing plans at the last minute, this can feel constraining.

Personality dynamics: In any group, there will be someone who talks too much, someone who's always late, someone who complains about everything. You can't control who signs up.

Compromise is required: The group wants Italian for dinner, but you're craving Thai? Someone wants to leave the club at midnight, but you're just getting started? Group travel means sometimes doing things that aren't your first choice.

Less alone time: If you're an introvert who needs solitude to recharge, being around people 24/7 can be draining. Even in your hotel room, you might have a roommate.

FOMO on solo discoveries: There's something special about stumbling onto a hidden café or getting lost and finding an amazing neighborhood that's not in any guidebook. Group itineraries sometimes mean less room for those serendipitous moments.

The Questions That Actually Matter

Forget the Instagram aesthetic. Here are the questions that will tell you which option is right for your next trip:

Ask Yourself:

1. What's your travel goal?

  • Self-discovery and independence? → Solo might be your answer

  • Connection and community? → Group travel delivers

  • Adventure without stress? → Group travel handles logistics

  • Complete freedom and flexibility? → Solo gives you that

2. What's your safety comfort level?

  • "I'm comfortable navigating unknown situations alone" → Solo could work

  • "I want to explore but not worry about worst-case scenarios" → Group provides security

  • "I need to feel safe to actually relax" → Group travel is your friend

3. How do you recharge?

  • Alone time is essential → Solo travel or groups with lots of free time

  • People energize me → Group travel will feel natural

  • I need a mix → Look for group trips with built-in downtime

4. What's your relationship with being LGBTQ in public?

  • "I'm comfortable being out everywhere" → Solo travel to queer-friendly destinations

  • "I'm tired of calculating safety and just want to be" → Group travel removes that burden

  • "I don't want to be the only queer person in the room" → Group travel guarantees community

5. How do you handle loneliness?

  • "I love my own company" → Solo travel can be rejuvenating

  • "I get lonely easily" → Group travel provides built-in companionship

  • "I'm okay alone but crave connection" → Consider both options

6. What's your budget reality?

  • Very limited budget → Solo travel lets you cut costs your way

  • Moderate budget → Group travel often offers better value through group rates

  • Flexible budget → Either works; decide based on experience quality

When Solo Travel Makes Sense for LGBTQ Women

Solo travel can be incredibly rewarding if:

You're going to an LGBTQ mecca (San Francisco, Berlin, Amsterdam, Provincetown) where queer community is easy to find

You have serious wanderlust and specific places you want to explore at your own pace

You're craving deep introspection and genuine alone time away from your regular life

You have friends/community at your destination, so you're not actually solo the whole time

You're experienced with international travel and confident navigating new places

You genuinely prefer your own company and find groups draining

Your timeline is flexible, and you want the freedom to stay longer or leave early

Best Solo Destinations for LGBTQ Women:

  • Provincetown, Massachusetts (lesbian paradise)

  • San Francisco, California (queer-friendly infrastructure)

  • Berlin, Germany (thriving lesbian scene)

  • Amsterdam, Netherlands (welcoming and safe)

  • Iceland (progressive and safe for solo women)

When Group Travel Is the Better Choice

LGBTQ group travel makes sense if:

You're traveling to a destination where being queer requires caution (Morocco, India, parts of Africa/Asia)

You want to experience Pride or cultural events with your community

You're tired of being the only LGBTQ person in straight travel spaces

You're nervous about traveling internationally and want expert guidance

You value efficiency and don't want to spend hours researching and planning

You're solo but don't want to feel lonely (most group travelers come alone!)

You want access to experiences that are hard to access independently

You're craving community and connection with other queer women

Perfect Group Travel Destinations:

  • Morocco (safety in numbers, vetted experiences)

  • India (complex to navigate, cultural nuances)

  • Kenya (safari expertise needed)

  • Puerto Vallarta Pride (community celebration)

  • Bali (spiritual experiences better shared)

  • Brazil Carnival (safety + insider access)

The Third Option: Solo Within a Group

Here's what many people don't realize: joining a group trip doesn't mean sacrificing independence.

The best group travel companies build in free time specifically so you can:

  • Explore neighborhoods on your own

  • Take that yoga class solo

  • Have a quiet breakfast by yourself

  • Skip the group dinner to try that restaurant you researched

You get the safety and community of a group, plus the freedom to wander off when you need space.

It's the best of both worlds: Someone else handles logistics, you're never eating alone unless you want to, and you have built-in friends for activities, but you can also disappear for an afternoon to read on the beach.

What Past Travelers Say

“I had a great time! I was a solo traveler, and everyone in the group was so nice and really fun to experience Rio with. Carnival was magical! Highly recommend Ladies Touch Travel. I've already booked my next trip!” by Yvonne W.

“This was my third trip with Vivian and Ladies Touch Travel. I have appreciated how smoothly the entire experience has flowed. I have always felt safe and taken care of. Each trip has allowed me the opportunity to experience the people, food and culture of each location with like-minded women. I truly appreciate Vivian's dedication and hard work in creating the experience at an affordable price point. Many thanks to the Vivians”, by Nancy T.

The Financial Reality Check

Let's talk money, because the budget often makes the decision for us.

Solo Travel Costs:

  • ✅ Control every expense

  • ✅ Can choose budget hostels or street food

  • ❌ Can't split taxis, meals, or excursions

  • ❌ Often pay more for tours (if you can even book them as a solo traveler)

Real cost: Potentially lower daily expenses, but a lack of cost-sharing can make it more expensive overall.

Group Travel Costs:

  • ✅ Shared accommodations (roommate matching available)

  • ✅ Group rates on activities and transportation

  • ✅ All logistics included (saves research time = money)

  • ❌ Less flexibility to cut corners

  • ❌ Upfront cost can feel high

Real cost: Higher upfront investment, but often better value for what you get, especially when you factor in vetted experiences, safety, and time saved.

The Time Investment:

Solo travel requires 40-60 hours of research, planning, and booking. Group travel requires reading the itinerary and showing up.

If your time is worth anything, that math matters.

How to Decide: A Simple Framework

Still torn? Try this:

Choose SOLO if:

  • You're going somewhere with an established LGBTQ community

  • You genuinely love being alone

  • Flexibility matters more than efficiency

  • You have the time and energy to research thoroughly

  • Your safety comfort level is high

Choose GROUP if:

  • You're going somewhere complex or culturally nuanced

  • You want a guaranteed queer community

  • Safety and logistics feel overwhelming

  • You value time over complete control

  • You're craving connection with women who get it

Try BOTH:

  • Solo trips to queer-friendly cities where you can easily connect with the local LGBTQ community

  • Group trips to destinations where being queer requires more caution or where you want insider access

What Makes LGBTQ Women's Group Travel Different

Not all group travel is created equal. Here's what sets LGBTQ women's trips apart:

No code-switching required: From the moment you arrive, you can be fully yourself. No careful pronoun usage. No vague answers about your "friend" back home. Just authenticity.

Vetted for actual safety: Companies like Ladies Touch don't just google "is Morocco safe for LGBTQ travelers?" They have relationships with local queer communities, they know which guides are truly welcoming, and they've done the safety homework so you don't have to.

Designed for women, not adapted from men's trips: Many LGBTQ travel companies cater primarily to gay men and add a "women's departure" as an afterthought. Women-first travel companies understand different needs, different safety considerations, and different community dynamics.

Access to lesbian-specific spaces: In Puerto Vallarta, there are women's bars and events that don't advertise online. In every destination, there are queer women's communities that welcome visitors, but only if you have an in. Group travel companies with deep roots provide that access.

Built-in chosen family: Solo travel means constantly introducing yourself. Group travel means week two of the trip, you're already inside jokes deep and planning the next adventure together.

The Ladies Touch Approach to Group Travel

Since 2016, we've been refining what LGBTQ women's group travel should look like. Here's what we've learned:

Small groups matter: We intentionally cap our trips because 20-40 women can actually get to know each other. 60 people on a bus? That's not community, that's a crowd.

Free time is sacred: Every itinerary includes built-in downtime. Want to explore solo? Sleep in? Have a quiet morning? You can do all of that while still having group activities to return to.

Roommate matching removes barriers: Most solo travelers don't want to pay double for a private room. Our roommate matching means you get the financial benefit of sharing without the awkwardness of rooming with a stranger (spoiler: by day two, they're not strangers anymore).

Local connections run deep: We're not showing you the tourist version of a destination. In Puerto Vallarta, we produce Lesbian Pride. In every location, we work with local LGBTQ communities to create authentic experiences.

Flexibility within structure: Yes, there's an itinerary. But we're not marching you around like school children. If the group wants to skip the museum to spend more time at the beach? We adapt.

Ready to Decide?

Here's the truth: There's no wrong answer. Solo travel and group travel both have their place in a well-lived life.

The question isn't "Which is better?" It's "Which is right for this trip, at this point in my life?"

Maybe you've been solo traveling for years, and you're ready for community. Maybe you've only done group trips, and you're craving independence. Maybe you want to try group travel to a challenging destination and save solo adventures for queer-friendly cities.

Your travel style can evolve. You're allowed to want different things at different times.

But if you're tired of:

  • Being the only queer person in the room

  • Calculating safety instead of relaxing

  • Eating every meal alone

  • Missing out on insider experiences

  • Explaining yourself to strangers

Then maybe it's time to try LGBTQ women's group travel.

The Bottom Line

Solo travel teaches you that you can navigate the world alone.

Group travel reminds you that you don't have to.

Both are valuable. Both are empowering. Both have their place.

The only wrong choice is staying home because you can't decide.

So pick one, solo or group, structured or spontaneous, community or independent, and go.

The world is waiting. Your people are out there.

And whether you meet them on the road or bring them with you from the start, the adventure begins when you say yes.

Puerto Rico 2026: The Ultimate LGBTQ Women's Caribbean Escape

Puerto Rico is the LGBTQ capital of the Caribbean — and the ultimate destination for queer women who want sun, safety, and community. No passport required. Discover why LGBTQ women are choosing San Juan in 2026.

LGBTQ women enjoying Condado Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico on a Ladies Touch group travel trip

Picture this: You're lounging on Condado Beach, rainbow flags waving in the warm Caribbean breeze, surrounded by queer women from across the US soaking up the sun on the most LGBTQ-friendly island in the Caribbean. The water is impossibly turquoise, the piña coladas are flowing, and for the first time in forever, you don't have to wonder if you're safe holding hands with your partner on the beach.

This is Puerto Rico in July 2026, and it's calling your name.

Why Puerto Rico Should Be Your Next LGBTQ Women's Getaway

Puerto Rico isn't just another Caribbean island; it's the LGBTQ capital of the Caribbean, and there's no place quite like it for queer women travelers. While 11 Caribbean countries still criminalize LGBTQ relationships, Puerto Rico has had marriage equality since 2015, comprehensive employment protections, and a thriving queer community that welcomes visitors with open arms.

San Juan boasts more LGBTQ nightlife than any other Caribbean destination, with dedicated gay beaches, women-friendly bars, and a level of visibility and acceptance you simply won't find elsewhere in the region.

And here's the best part: as a US territory, you don't need a passport if you're traveling from the mainland United States. It's an international vibe with domestic convenience, the perfect combination for an easy, stress-free getaway.

Rainbow flags along the LGBTQ-friendly streets of San Juan, Puerto Rico

What Makes Puerto Rico Perfect for LGBTQ Women in 2026

Here's what sets Puerto Rico apart: San Juan has cultivated one of the most vibrant lesbian and queer women's communities in the Caribbean. The island hosts multiple Pride celebrations throughout the year, has openly LGBTQ-owned businesses, and offers spaces where queer women can be visibly, unapologetically ourselves.

Ladies Touch Travel has curated a July 8-13, 2026 experience that captures the best of Puerto Rico — pristine beaches, rich culture, incredible food, and that signature Caribbean warmth — all with the safety and connection of group travel designed specifically for LGBTQ women.

Whether you identify as lesbian, bisexual, queer, trans, or anywhere under the rainbow umbrella, you'll find your people in Puerto Rico.

The Complete Puerto Rico 2026 Experience

Condado Beach: Your LGBTQ Paradise

Condado Beach is THE gay beach in San Juan, and it's where you'll spend quality time with your Ladies Touch Travel group. Located in the upscale Condado neighborhood, this stunning stretch of white sand and crystal-clear water is where LGBTQ locals and travelers gather, especially on Sunday afternoons.

This isn't a "LGBTQ-friendly" beach, it's proudly and visibly queer. You'll see rainbow flags, same-sex couples holding hands, and a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can be completely themselves. The beach offers umbrella and lounger rentals, easy access from nearby hotels, and that perfect Caribbean water you've been dreaming about.

Old San Juan: Colonial Charm Meets Rainbow Pride

Step back 500 years into Old San Juan, a UNESCO World Heritage site with blue cobblestone streets, pastel-colored Spanish colonial buildings, and centuries of history. This isn't just a tourist attraction, it's a living, breathing neighborhood where history meets modern LGBTQ life.

Explore:

 -      El Morro and San Cristóbal Fortresses - Imposing 16th-century fortifications with stunning ocean views

-       Rainbow City Gate - Many cruise passengers pass through this iconic entrance

-       La Sombrilla Rosa - A beloved LGBTQ bar on Calle San Sebastian serving legendary margaritas

-       Vibrant street art and murals throughout the walled city

-       Local shops, galleries, and restaurants owned by Puerto Ricans, not chain stores

the colorful streets of Old San Juan Puerto Rico on an LGBTQ group travel trip

El Yunque Rainforest: Nature's Caribbean Secret

El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest System, and it's pure magic. This 28,000-acre wonderland features:

 -      Over 240 species of trees

-       25 waterfalls and natural pools

-       Endemic wildlife including the coquí tree frog (you'll hear their distinctive song at night)

-       Well-maintained hiking trails for all fitness levels

-       Opportunities for swimming beneath waterfalls

It's the perfect escape from beach time, lush, green, and refreshingly cool compared to the coastal heat.

Bioluminescent Bay: Glow-in-the-Dark Magic

Puerto Rico is home to three of the world's only five bioluminescent bays. These rare ecosystems contain millions of dinoflagellates, single-celled organisms that create a spectacular glow-in-the-dark effect when the water is disturbed.

The closest to San Juan is Laguna Grande in Fajardo, where you can kayak through glowing waters under the stars. Every paddle stroke creates streaks of blue-green light, it's like kayaking through liquid starlight.

San Juan's LGBTQ Nightlife Scene

Puerto Rico has more LGBTQ nightlife than any other Caribbean island, with options ranging from laid-back neighborhood bars to high-energy dance clubs:

Kweens Klub - The Caribbean's premier drag show destination with international performers, a massive dance floor, and outdoor areas for mingling.

Tía María Liquor Store - A beloved Santurce neighborhood bar with an exceptionally friendly crowd, cheap cocktails, and karaoke. Gets gayer as the night goes on!

La Placita de Santurce - Not a single bar but an entire historic market district that transforms into a massive street party on weekend nights. Restaurants and bars spill onto the plaza, it's electric.

Puerto Rican Cuisine: A Foodie's Dream

Puerto Rico is experiencing a culinary renaissance, with chefs combining traditional abuelita recipes with modern techniques. The island produces incredible local ingredients, world-class rum, and flavors you simply can't find anywhere else.

 Must-try dishes:

 -      Mofongo - Mashed plantains with garlic, often stuffed with seafood or meat

-       Lechón - Slow-roasted pork, a Puerto Rican specialty

-       Tostones - Fried green plantains

-       Arroz con gandules - Rice with pigeon peas

-       Fresh seafood - Red snapper, mahi-mahi, Caribbean lobster

And of course, piña coladas… they were invented in Puerto Rico, after all!

Where to Stay: Condado Neighborhood

Condado is where you want to be, walking distance to the gay beach, close to LGBTQ nightlife, with luxury hotels, and easy access to Old San Juan and Santurce.

The neighborhood sits on a strip of land between the Condado Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, meaning water views from almost everywhere. It's upscale without being stuffy, with oceanfront restaurants, shopping, and that perfect blend of tourist amenities and local authenticity.

Condado Beach in San Juan Puerto Rico, a top LGBTQ travel destination in the Caribbean

Beyond San Juan: Puerto Rico's Hidden LGBTQ Gems

Cabo Rojo & Boquerón

This laid-back beach town on the southwest coast hosts Orgullo Boquerón (Boquerón Pride), which some say is even bigger and wilder than San Juan's Pride celebration. The town celebrates twice a year, once in summer and again in winter, when the weather is still perfect.

Playa Sucia is a stunning, LGBTQ-oriented beach with crystal-clear turquoise water and soft white sand. It's off-the-beaten-path, requiring a short drive and walk, but absolutely worth it for the natural beauty and welcoming atmosphere.

Vieques Island

Vieques offers a more tranquil escape with pristine beaches and the world's brightest bioluminescent bay (Mosquito Bay holds the Guinness World Record). The island has a smaller but proud LGBTQ community and hosts Adventura, a four-day LGBTQ festival in October.

Rincón

Known for spectacular sunsets and world-class surfing, Rincón has a bohemian vibe and several LGBTQ-owned businesses. It's perfect for a day trip if you want to see Puerto Rico's west coast.

US Dollar! No currency exchange needed.

How long is the flight from the US?
From Miami: 2.5 hours. From New York: 3.5 hours. From Chicago: 4 hours. From LA: 7 hours (with connections). Most major US cities have direct flights.

Are there lesbian-specific bars and events?
While Puerto Rico's LGBTQ scene welcomes all genders, you'll find queer women at venues like Oasis, La Placita, and special women's events throughout the year. Your Ladies Touch Travel hosts will share the best spots.

What's included vs what costs extra?
Trip packages typically include accommodations, daily breakfast, airport transfers, welcome events, and some group activities. Optional excursions, most meals, drinks, and nightlife are additional.

Fall in Love Again: Ladies Touch's Most Romantic Destinations for LGBTQ Women

Discover the most romantic destinations for LGBTQ women this February. From French Polynesia to Greece, find your perfect Valentine's escape. Book now!

There's something about February that makes us crave connection. Maybe it's the lingering winter cold that has us dreaming of warm beaches. Maybe it's Valentine's Day reminding us that love, whether coupled, self-love, or the love found in chosen family, deserves to be celebrated somewhere extraordinary.

Or maybe it's simpler than that: maybe we're just ready to feel something that isn't filtered through a screen or compressed into a text message. Real laughter. Real sunsets. Real moments that make your heart beat a little faster.

This February, we're sharing our most loved destinations, the places where LGBTQ women have found love, rediscovered themselves, and fallen head over heels for both the destinations and the community they traveled with. These aren't just beautiful places (though they absolutely are). They're places where love blooms in all its forms.

Whether you're celebrating love with a partner, your best friends, or simply yourself, these five destinations will remind you what it feels like to be swept off your feet.

Romantic tropical sunset destination for LGBTQ women travelers Valentine's Day.

French Polynesia: Love at First Lagoon

Picture this: Overwater bungalows with glass floors revealing tropical fish swimming beneath you. Water so impossibly turquoise it looks Photoshopped (it's not). Sunsets that paint the sky in shades you didn't know existed. And a sense of privacy and intimacy that makes the rest of the world feel very, very far away.

French Polynesia is romance distilled into island form.

Why LGBTQ Women Fall for French Polynesia

The South Pacific has a beautiful cultural acceptance woven into its history. French Polynesia's traditional mahu identity (a recognized third gender) creates a foundation of inclusivity that Western tourists can feel immediately. Here, love is love isn't a slogan, it's just understood.

For couples, French Polynesia offers that rare combination of adventure and absolute relaxation. You can snorkel with manta rays in the morning and be back on your private deck, champagne in hand, by sunset. You can explore black sand beaches and vanilla plantations, then retreat to your overwater villa where the only sound is gentle waves lapping beneath you.

The Romance Factor

For Partners: Private snorkeling excursions, couples' spa treatments overlooking the ocean, candlelit dinners on the beach with your toes in the sand, sunrise paddleboarding through mirror-calm lagoons.

For Solo Travelers: The kind of breathtaking beauty that reminds you that you are enough, exactly as you are. Healing ocean swims. Journaling on your private deck. Meeting other adventurous women who chose themselves.

The Ladies Touch Experience: Small group travel means you're exploring these islands with other LGBTQ women who understand why this matters. No awkward couple-focused resort activities. No being the only two women holding hands. Just community, beauty, and the freedom to experience romance on your terms.

South Africa: Where Wild Hearts Roam Free

South Africa safari adventure for LGBTQ women romantic travel

Safari at sunrise. Cape Town's beaches at golden hour. Wine tasting in Stellenbosch with Table Mountain as your backdrop. South Africa is the kind of place that makes you feel alive in a way you didn't know you were missing.

This is romance with an edge: the thrill of spotting a leopard in the wild, the pride of standing at the Cape of Good Hope, the joy of dancing in Cape Town's vibrant LGBTQ scene, the quiet intimacy of watching elephants at a watering hole as the sun sets.

Why LGBTQ Women Choose South Africa

South Africa was the first country in the world to constitutionally prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and the fifth country to legalize same-sex marriage. This isn't tolerance, it's leadership.

Cape Town, in particular, has earned its reputation as one of the world's top LGBTQ destinations, with a thriving queer scene, inclusive nightlife, and a culture that celebrates diversity. It's a place where you can be fully yourself while experiencing some of the most dramatic landscapes on Earth.

The Romance Factor

For Partners: Private safari drives where you're alone in the wilderness with the Big Five, sunset champagne toasts overlooking Cape Town from Lion's Head, couples' massages at luxury lodges after a day of adventure, and romantic dinners at award-winning restaurants.

For Solo Travelers: The confidence that comes from tracking wildlife, the bonds formed around safari campfires, the community found in Cape Town's welcoming LGBTQ spaces, and the self-discovery that happens when you push your comfort zone.

The Ladies Touch Difference: We've cultivated relationships with LGBTQ-friendly safari lodges and local experts who ensure you're not just safe, but celebrated. Our Cape Town guides know which beaches are most welcoming, which clubs are lesbian-friendly, and where to find those hidden gems tourists miss.

Bali: Find Your Bliss

Bali romantic LGBTQ women wellness retreat.

Bali isn't just an island, it's a feeling. The scent of frangipani flowers and incense. The sound of gamelan music drifting from temple ceremonies. Rice terraces that look like someone painted them in impossible shades of green. And an energy that somehow makes you feel both deeply relaxed and vibrantly alive.

This is where stressed-out professionals come to remember they're human. Where couples rediscover each other away from daily distractions. Where solo travelers find clarity they didn't know they were seeking.

Why LGBTQ Women Love Bali

While Indonesia as a whole has varying levels of LGBTQ acceptance, Bali operates in its own orbit. The island's Hindu culture (unique in Muslim-majority Indonesia) combined with its sophisticated international tourism, creates a more open environment than you might expect.

Seminyak and Canggu have thriving LGBTQ-friendly scenes with beach clubs, bars, and accommodations that explicitly welcome queer travelers. And the island's focus on spiritual wellness, yoga, and personal transformation attracts open-minded travelers from around the world.

The Romance Factor

For Partners: Private villa stays with infinity pools overlooking jungles, couples' spa treatments with traditional Balinese techniques, sunrise temple visits before the crowds arrive, romantic dinners in Ubud's jungle canopy, sunset beach clubs where you can dance until the stars come out.

For Solo Travelers: Transformative yoga and meditation retreats, healing workshops that help you reconnect with yourself, the profound peace of Balinese spirituality, making friends with fellow travelers during sunrise volcano hikes.

The Ladies Touch Experience: We've handpicked LGBTQ-friendly villas, guides, and experiences throughout Bali. Our itineraries balance adventure (waterfall chasing, rice terrace walks) with restoration (spa days, beach time), ensuring you return home feeling both energized and deeply rested.

Puerto Vallarta: Where Paradise Speaks Your Language

Mexico's Pacific coast gem has earned its place as one of the world's premier LGBTQ destinations, and once you've experienced Puerto Vallarta, you'll understand why. This isn't just LGBTQ-friendly, it's LGBTQ-centered, especially in the charming Zona Romántica where rainbow flags fly year-round and queer-owned businesses line every street.

Puerto Vallarta offers that rare combination of stunning natural beauty, vibrant culture, accessible luxury, and a thriving lesbian scene that few destinations can match.

Why LGBTQ Women Return Year After Year

Puerto Vallarta doesn't just accept LGBTQ travelers; it celebrates us. As producers of Vallarta's Lesbian Pride since 2022, Ladies Touch has deep roots here, and we've watched this destination evolve into a true haven for queer women.

Los Muertos Beach (the gay beach) is where you'll find LGBTQ locals and travelers every day. The Romantic Zone's nightlife includes women-specific venues and parties. And the surrounding natural beauty, with hidden beaches, jungle adventures, and whale watching, provides endless romantic experiences.

The Romance Factor

For Partners: Sunset sailing along the Bay of Banderas, private beach cabanas at LGBTQ beach clubs, couples' massages at oceanfront spas, romantic dinners in charming Old Town, salsa dancing in the Romantic Zone where no one blinks at two women together.

For Solo Travelers: The easiest place to meet other LGBTQ women travelers, beach clubs where you'll make friends within minutes, nightlife where you're never the only queer woman in the room, and a sense of safety that lets you relax completely.

The Ladies Touch Magic: We don't just visit Puerto Vallarta, we have the keys to the city. Our insider connections mean VIP access to women's events, exclusive beach club experiences, and the best LGBTQ-owned restaurants and bars. You'll experience Vallarta like a local, not a tourist.

Greece: Ancient Beauty, Timeless Love

Greece romantic sunset destination for lesbian couples travel

Greece is where Western civilization learned to philosophize about love, art, and beauty. Thousands of years later, these islands and ancient sites still inspire that same wonder. Santorini's blue-domed churches against whitewashed buildings. Mykonos' legendary beaches and nightlife. Athens' millennia-old ruins, where you can literally walk through history.

This is romance on an epic scale, the kind where every sunset feels mythological and every meal feels like a celebration.

Why LGBTQ Women Choose Greece

Greece has a complex relationship with LGBTQ rights, but the tourist islands (especially Mykonos) have cultivated famously welcoming environments for queer travelers. Mykonos, in particular, has been a gay mecca since the 1960s and continues to offer some of the Mediterranean's best LGBTQ nightlife and beach culture.

Beyond acceptance, Greece offers something deeper: a culture that understands pleasure, beauty, and the importance of living fully. The Greek concept of "kefi" (joy, passion, the spirit of celebration) infuses everything from meals to music to daily life.

The Romance Factor

For Partners: Watching Santorini's famous sunset from a private balcony, couples' wine tasting on volcanic terraces, romantic dinners overlooking the Aegean Sea, exploring ancient ruins hand in hand, and sailing between islands on traditional wooden boats.

For Solo Travelers: The confidence that comes from navigating ancient Athens, beach days on Mykonos where everyone's welcome, making friends over long Greek meals, the transformative power of experiencing beauty on this scale.

The Ladies Touch Approach: Our Greece itineraries balance the iconic (Santorini sunsets, Parthenon visits) with the authentic (local tavernas, hidden beaches, women-owned businesses). We've cultivated relationships with LGBTQ-friendly accommodations and guides who ensure you experience Greece's beauty and hospitality fully.

Planning Your Romantic Escape

Here's what we know after years of creating LGBTQ women's travel experiences: Romance isn't just about candlelit dinners and sunset photos (though we absolutely provide those). Real romance is about feeling safe enough to be vulnerable, free enough to be fully yourself, and connected enough to share the experience authentically.

Why Group Travel Enhances Romance

This might seem counterintuitive. How is group travel romantic? But our travelers tell us repeatedly:

"The ladies in the group were kind, welcoming, and knew how to have a good time. I would even bring my mother along to travel with Ladies Touch. Thank you for the unforgettable experience in Cape Town, South Africa."

"I met my fiance on my trip to South Africa. Ladies Touch is an incredible experience and a vibe that will leave you booking your next trip. If you’re on the fence don’t wait you will not regret it."

"The islands were gorgeous the excursions were so amazing. The fresh food was amazing. They helped me plan my proposal so I can officially say I got engaged in French Polynesia. Everyone on the trip was so much fun. Can’t wait for the next adventure"

Group travel provides:

  • Safety in numbers in new destinations

  • A community that gets it without explanation

  • Shared experiences that become inside jokes and lifelong memories

  • Solo-friendly options with roommate matching

  • Freedom to be yourself completely

The February Feeling: Why Travel Matters

February asks us to choose love. Not just romantic love with a partner, but the radical act of loving yourself enough to prioritize experiences that make you feel alive. To choose adventure over routine. To choose community over isolation. To choose the kind of memories that sustain you long after you're back home.

These five destinations aren't just beautiful places on a map. They're where LGBTQ women have:

  • Proposed to their partners

  • Decided to finally live authentically

  • Made friendships that became chosen family

  • Remembered who they were before the world told them to shrink

  • Celebrated love in all its messy, magnificent forms

Is it French Polynesia's overwater paradise? South Africa's wild beauty? Bali's healing energy? Puerto Vallarta's vibrant community? Greece's ancient romance?

Here's the beautiful truth: whichever you choose, you won't travel alone.

You'll experience it alongside other LGBTQ women who understand why this matters. Women who celebrate your relationship without weird questions. Frequently Asked Questions

Is group travel really romantic for couples?
Absolutely! Our trips provide couple time and group experiences. You'll have private romantic moments (sunset dinners, spa treatments) and community activities (group excursions, beach days). Many couples tell us traveling with other LGBTQ women actually enhanced their relationship, because there were no straight couple dynamics, no being the only queer couple, just an authentic connection.

What if I'm single? Will I feel left out?
Not even a little bit. Many of our travelers come solo; it's about self-love, friendship, and community. Some of our best trip testimonials come from solo travelers who found the experience profoundly romantic in unexpected ways.

Check out our tips for LGBTQ+ Women joining their first group trip.

Which destination is most LGBTQ-friendly?
Puerto Vallarta and South Africa (specifically Cape Town) are the most explicitly LGBTQ-welcoming with visible queer communities and legal protections. French Polynesia and Greece (especially Mykonos) have tourism cultures that embrace LGBTQ travelers warmly. Bali requires more knowledge of LGBTQ-friendly areas, which is where our expertise matters.

Can I extend my trip for a private romantic getaway?
Yes! Many couples join our group trips and then extend their stay for private time. We can help arrange romantic add-ons, upgraded accommodations, and special experiences.

How far in advance should I book for February travel?
February is increasingly popular for LGBTQ women's travel (Valentine's season plus escaping winter). We recommend booking 12-6 months in advance, as these destinations usually sell out fast.

What's included in the Ladies Touch experience?
Every Ladies Touch trip includes thoughtful touches: welcome celebrations, group dinners at stunning local venues, time built in for personal exploration and connection, curated recommendations for unforgettable experiences, and the expertise to help you create the moments that matter most to you

Why French Polynesia Is Perfect for Couples Trips, Proposals & Romance

Discover why French Polynesia is the ultimate destination for lesbian couples—luxury resorts, lagoon adventures, cultural experiences, and a magical proposal.

A journey where love deepened, bonds were formed, and one couple said “yes.”

Some trips are about escape. Others are about connection. Our couples group trip to French Polynesia was deeply rooted in both—and it quickly became one of those journeys that stays with you long after you return home.

From the lush landscapes of Tahiti to the crystal-clear lagoons of Moorea, this experience was designed for couples seeking romance, relaxation, culture, and intentional time together—all while traveling in community.

Tahiti: A Warm Welcome to Island Life

We began our journey in Tahiti, staying at the stunning Hilton Tahiti, where island elegance met modern comfort.

On arrival day, couples were welcomed with a sunset cocktail and appetizer hour, setting the tone for the week ahead. The Ladies Touch swag bags and intentional gifts were a hit, and from the very first evening, laughter and warmth filled the air as couples settled into island time.

Exploring Tahiti’s Natural Beauty

Our Tahiti island tour showcased the island’s breathtaking diversity. We visited Matavai Bay, where dramatic views meet a striking black sand beach, then continued on to Venus Point, the lush Faarumai Waterfalls, and the vibrant Papeete Market.

The waterfalls especially left us in awe—lush, powerful, and serene all at once. It was the perfect backdrop for couples photos and quiet moments of appreciation.

That evening, we gathered for a welcome dinner, reflecting on the day and soaking in the magic of being present together in such a beautiful place.

Catamaran Vibes & Breaking the Ice

Day three was all about ease. Couples enjoyed a relaxed day at leisure before boarding a sunset catamaran cruise—an experience that truly brought the group together.

With music flowing from island reggae to old-school jams, this cruise gently broke down any remaining shyness. Dancing, laughter, and shared joy filled the deck as bonds deepened naturally.

Moorea: Sacred Moments & Lagoon Dreams

We transferred to Moorea and checked into our overwater bungalows at the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa, where overwater bungalows and turquoise lagoons set the stage for the next chapter of our trip.

That evening unfolded into one of the most emotional and unforgettable moments of the trip: a surprise French Polynesian blessing ceremony held right on the beach.

The ceremony was led by a tahu’a (high priest) and included purification with coconut water and auti leaves, exchanging flower crowns, receiving Tahitian names, and all accompanied by Polynesian music and dance.

There were tears, laughter, dancing, and a beautiful dinner filled with fresh seafood, meats, pastas, and island flavors. It was a night that honored love in the most meaningful way.

Lagoon Adventures Like a Local

Our Moorea Miti Lagoon Cruise was pure joy. Led by the hilarious and unforgettable Captain Will, couples experienced Moorea from a local perspective—catching coconuts, learning about island plants, making fresh ceviche Polynesia-style, and swimming alongside lagoon sharks and manta rays.

We laughed nonstop, learned cultural traditions (including how local women wear pareos), and truly embraced the spirit of the lagoon. It was one of those days where everything feels effortless and alive.

The magic of Moorea reached new heights when one of our couples planned a private romantic proposal dinner overlooking the lagoon. Surrounded by island beauty and love, she said YES, and the entire group celebrated this unforgettable moment together. It was pure joy—and a testament to why couples choose French Polynesia for proposals, vow renewals, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Congrats KD & Ariel!

Island Evenings & Polynesian Rhythm

One afternoon, couples gathered around their overwater bungalows for music, deep conversations, and reflections on life, love, and creating opportunities. It was intimate, empowering, and grounding—a reminder of why traveling in community matters.

That evening, we enjoyed a Polynesian dinner show, complete with mesmerizing performances. The energy, the drums, the movement—no one could look away. A few travelers even tried to match the dancers’ lightning-fast hip movements, creating plenty of laughs.

A Heartfelt Farewell

As the trip came to a close, emotions ran high. Our final evening was spent at a departure dinner in town, sharing gratitude, stories, and heartfelt goodbyes. It was important to remind everyone just how special they were—and how they had co-created something truly unforgettable.

The next day, couples departed for home with happy hearts, deeper connections, and a new travel family.

Why Couples Choose French Polynesia with Ladies Touch Travel

This French Polynesia couples trip was about more than luxury. It was about:

  • Traveling with intention

  • Honoring love in meaningful ways

  • Experiencing culture respectfully

Sailing the Mediterranean with LGBTQ Women | Virgin Voyages Cruise

Sail the Mediterranean on a luxury group cruise for LGBTQ women, from Athens to Spain with Virgin Voyages—culture, connection, and unforgettable experiences included.

Some journeys are about the places you visit. Others are about the people you become along the way.

Our Mediterranean group cruise for LGBTQ women aboard Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady was the perfect blend of culture, connection, celebration, and carefree luxury. From the ancient streets of Athens to the sun-soaked coasts of Spain, this journey reminded us why intentional group travel creates memories that last far beyond the final port.

Athens, Greece: History, Views & A Perfect Welcome

Our journey began in Athens, where several travelers arrived early to immerse themselves in the birthplace of democracy and mythology. We gathered for a welcome meet & greet cocktail hour at the rooftop of our pre-city hotel, surrounded by sweeping views of the Acropolis glowing at sunset.

With appetizers, cocktails, and laughter flowing freely, it was the perfect introduction to what this experience would be about: connection, celebration, and shared discovery.

The following day, we explored Athens on a guided city tour, visiting iconic landmarks like the Acropolis, Parthenon, and Olympic Stadium. Wandering through the charming streets of Plaka, we soaked up the city’s energy before enjoying lunch together at Ella Urban Greek Cuisine — a delicious pause filled with conversation and camaraderie.

LGBTQ women group tour and friend at the Acropolis in Athens, Greece before embarking on a Virgin Voyages Mediterranean cruise.

Setting Sail: Welcome Aboard Virgin Voyages

On embarkation day, we boarded Virgin Voyages’ Resilient Lady at the Athens pier — ready to trade ancient ruins for modern luxury at sea.

That evening, we hosted a private Ladies Touch welcome cocktail hour, complete with a blue-and-white theme inspired by Greece. We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and our frequent travelers, honoring the women who continue to choose to explore the world in community. It set the tone for a voyage rooted in joy, recognition, and belonging.

Mykonos: Queer-Friendly Culture & Island Flavor

Our first port of call was Mykonos, where we enjoyed a private group town and tastings tour led by a queer local guide. From hidden corners of the island to vibrant stories of Mykonos’ inclusive history, the experience felt personal, intentional, and welcoming.

Lunch was at one of our favorite local spots, Souvlaki Story, where we toasted with ouzo and shared one of those meals where the food tastes even better because of the company. Mykonos reminded us why it remains a beloved destination for LGBTQ travelers worldwide.

Sea Days: Music, Laughter & Unfiltered Joy

Our days at sea were anything but quiet. One night, we sang at the top of our lungs and danced through decades at Klub Rubiks, Virgin Voyages’ iconic 80s-themed party. The energy was electric — carefree, nostalgic, and joyful.

Other sea days brought us together again for private Ladies Touch cocktail hours, group dinner, karaoke and game night. A spirited round of Outburst had us laughing so hard our cheeks hurt, proving once again that the best moments often happen when you least expect them.

Italy & Spain: Choose Your Own Adventure

When we docked in Sicily, Italy, some travelers ventured ashore while others chose to stay onboard and enjoy the ship’s incredible amenities — a reminder that this trip was designed to honor freedom of choice.

In Palma de Mallorca, we explored the city on a private tapas and city tour, instantly falling in love with the island’s charm. Palma left such an impression that many of us agreed it deserved a longer stay next time.

Our stop in Valencia, Spain brought a show-stopping group experience: a gypsy show paired with tapas. The singer’s powerful voice gave us chills, especially during a passionate rendition of Volare in true Gitano style. That evening, we gathered once more at the Sip Lounge onboard for a champagne toast — celebrating new friendships, deep connections, and unforgettable memories.

A Mediterranean Farewell to Remember

As we disembarked, we carried more than souvenirs home with us. We left with inside jokes, shared stories, new friendships, and full hearts.

This Mediterranean cruise for LGBTQ women was about more than the destinations. It was about traveling safely, intentionally, and joyfully — without explanation or compromise.

Dubai to Maldives: A Journal from Our Ladies Touch Adventure

From Dubai’s skyline to the Maldives’ crystal lagoons, this travel journal captures magic, community, and the joy of exploring the world with Ladies Touch.

Some trips stay in your heart a little longer, and our Dubai + Maldives journey was exactly that kind of experience. From the moment we landed in Dubai, the energy was vibrant, modern, and full of possibility. And guiding us through every highlight, every cultural gem, and every hidden corner was our incredible private guide, Hind—born in Egypt, a Dubai local for more than a decade, and truly the heartbeat of our week.

We instantly fell in love with her.
Her humor. Her warmth. Her knowledge.
And especially the way she cared for our group like family.

By the end of the trip, we weren’t just taking lessons in culture… Hind had us learning how to belly dance to Arabic music on a yacht. That’s the energy she brought—joyful, effortless, and unforgettable.

Exploring Dubai — A Mix of Modern Glamour & Deep Culture

Dubai welcomed us with shimmering skylines and a city built on imagination. We explored some of the most iconic landmarks in the world—skyscraper views, futuristic architecture, and luxury experiences that showed us the modern soul of the UAE. Then we crossed the creek by abra boat and stepped into Old Dubai’s spice-scented streets, wandering the Gold and Spice Souks like travelers in another era.

Exploring Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa with our LGBTQ women’s travel group.

And of course… the desert.
Nothing compares to a heritage desert experience. The rolling dunes at sunset, the stillness, the traditions, the sense of being far removed from everything and deeply connected to the moment.

Our group bonded in the laughter, the heat, the shared awe of it all.

Flying Dresses & Yacht Vibes — A Day Made for Queens

One of the most unforgettable moments of this Dubai travel experience was our Flying Dress photoshoot. Watching the group step into vibrant gowns that flowed in the wind—standing tall against the city’s skyline—was breathtaking. Every solo shot looked like a magazine cover, and the group photos were powerful, joyful, and full of personality.

Later, we cruised across the Dubai Marina on our private yacht with our own DJ spinning the soundtrack of the day. Music, ocean breeze, sunshine, dancing, and the most beautiful skyline views—it felt like a celebration of life and sisterhood.

Sunset yacht vibes in Dubai Marina with our incredible LGBTQ women travelers.

Right there on the deck, Hind gave us the most fun, unfiltered belly dance lesson, and the entire travel crew laughed, danced, and lived in pure joy.

Dubai Nights, Good Food & Good Company

Throughout our stay, we indulged in Dubai’s incredible restaurant scene—everything from global cuisine to rooftop cocktails high above the city. We shared stories, toasted to new adventures, and soaked in every moment of this luxury group trip for LGBTQ women. Every night felt like a celebration, every gathering a reminder of why community-centered travel matters.

A Dream Escape to the Maldives

Flying into the Maldives felt like stepping inside a screensaver—crystal-clear turquoise water, powder-soft sand, and endless horizon lines. The moment our group arrived, the island welcomed us with music, warmth, and that laid-back magic only the Maldives can offer.

Our overwater bungalows gave us a peaceful, ocean-front sanctuary. We woke up to the sound of the water, swam out directly into the lagoon, and let the days move at an island pace.

One morning we set out on a snorkeling adventure—waves a little wild, energy a little chaotic—but once we were in the water, we were rewarded with the most colorful sea life. It was surreal, calming, and full of wonder.

The rest of our days were spent on the beach, soaking in the sun, enjoying the Maldivian hospitality, eating great food, and savoring long, heartfelt conversations in the ocean. This portion of the trip felt grounding and nourishing—the perfect balance after the fast-paced fun of Dubai.

Our Ladies Touch Travel Crew soaking up the Maldives magic at SAii Lagoon.

Closing Out a Beautiful Journey

On our final night in the Maldives, we gathered for a lively farewell dinner filled with music, dancing, and belly laughs—one of those nights where you don’t want the trip to end. We toasted to friendship, adventure, safety, and the incredible bond created when LGBTQ women travel together.

When we hugged everyone goodbye the next morning, it wasn’t just the end of a vacation.
It was the end of a beautiful chapter—one we’ll carry with us forever.

Dubai dazzled us.
The Maldives healed us.
And together, they created an unforgettable experience we can’t wait to return to.

One of the richest archaeological days of the trip:

  • The Valley of the Kings (including royal tombs)

  • The iconic Temple of Hatshepsut, honoring Egypt’s great female pharaoh

  • A peaceful felucca sail on the Nile — with one of the most magical LT moments of the entire week…

During sunset, our very own songstress Peaches and Bronze traveler performed her favorite blues live on the deck. Surrounded by river breezes, soft light, and sisterhood — it created an atmosphere that brought some travelers to tears. These are the moments that make Ladies Touch Travel truly unforgettable.

Day 6 – Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride + Free Day

At sunrise, we soared over Luxor in a hot air balloon, gliding above temples, farmland, and the Nile — an experience many described as life-changing. The rest of the day was free to relax, shop, enjoy the pool, or explore at your own pace.

Early morning for a beautiful sunrise balloon ride!

Day 7 – Depart for the U.S.

After breakfast, we said our goodbyes to Egypt — richer in memories, friendships, and the kind of joy that only comes from traveling with community.

Discover Kenya: A Group Travel Experience Where Adventure Meets Connection

Giraffe on the savannah with Nairobi skyline in the background, Kenya

Kenya is more than a destination. It’s a feeling. A place where wide open landscapes invite reflection, where wildlife encounters spark awe, and where shared moments turn strangers into chosen family. For women and queer travellers, Kenya offers something rare: adventure that feels grounding, cultural experiences that feel meaningful, and group travel that feels deeply connective.

This is not about rushing from highlight to highlight. It’s about moving together through moments that stay with you long after the journey ends.

Why Kenya Is Powerful for Group Travel

Kenya has a natural way of bringing people closer. Whether you’re watching the sunrise over the savannah or sharing stories around a campfire, the environment encourages presence and connection. Traveling as a group creates space for support, safety, and shared joy, especially in a destination as vast and diverse as this.

For women and LGBTQ+ travellers, group travel also means moving through the world with confidence. You’re not navigating alone. You’re supported by the community while still having room to explore, reflect, and be yourself.

When to Go: Choosing the Right Season

Kenya offers incredible experiences year-round, but timing can shape the kind of journey you want.

From June to October, the weather is cooler and drier, making it ideal for safaris. This is also when the Great Migration takes place in the Maasai Mara, one of the most breathtaking wildlife events on earth.

From December to March, the coast comes alive. Warm temperatures and sunny days make this the perfect season for beach escapes, slower mornings, and ocean-front relaxation in places like Diani Beach.

Maasai cultural celebration and hot air balloons over the Kenyan savannah

Experiences That Make Kenya Unforgettable

Safari in the Maasai Mara

There’s nothing quite like seeing wildlife in its natural habitat. Game drives through the Maasai Mara offer moments of quiet awe and collective excitement as you spot lions, elephants, giraffes, and more. Evenings often end with shared meals, laughter, and storytelling, creating bonds that deepen with every day.

Why it matters: Safari experiences slow you down and remind you how powerful it feels to witness the world together.

Exploring Nairobi

Kenya’s capital is vibrant, creative, and full of history. From visiting the Giraffe Centre to exploring women-led artisan spaces and cultural museums, Nairobi offers a rich introduction to the country’s heartbeat.

Why it matters: Cities tell stories. Nairobi shows you modern Kenya through culture, creativity, and community.

Diani Beach Retreat

After days of adventure, the coast offers space to rest and reconnect. Diani Beach is known for its white sand, turquoise waters, and relaxed atmosphere. Group time here might include beach walks, yoga sessions, water activities, or simply watching the sunset together.

Why it matters: Rest is part of the journey. Shared downtime strengthens connection just as much as adventure does.

Cultural Exchange with Maasai Communities

Meeting Maasai women and learning about their traditions, crafts, and daily lives offers meaningful cultural insight. These experiences are rooted in respect, learning, and sustainable tourism.

Why it matters: Travel becomes richer when it’s grounded in exchange rather than observation.

Mount Kenya and Scenic Hikes

For groups seeking a physical challenge, hiking around Mount Kenya offers stunning views and moments of personal accomplishment. The journey encourages teamwork, encouragement, and shared celebration at every milestone.

Why it matters: Doing something challenging together builds confidence and trust that carries into everyday life.

Helpful Tips for Planning a Kenya Group Trip

Choose accommodations and guides experienced with international and women-led groups.
Pack lightweight clothing for warm days and layers for cooler evenings.
Respect local customs while knowing that tourist lodges and resorts are welcoming spaces.
Move with curiosity and openness. Kenya rewards travellers who show up present and respectful.

Final Reflection: Why Kenya Stays With You

Kenya leaves a mark not just because of what you see, but because of how you feel while you’re there. It’s the shared silence when wildlife appears. The laughter during long drives. The sense of belonging grows day by day.

This is travel that connects you to the land, to culture, and to the people walking beside you.

Ready to Experience Kenya Together?

Join a Ladies Touch group trip and experience Kenya through community, care, and connection. From safaris to shoreline sunsets, every detail is designed so you can show up fully, travel confidently, and create memories that last.

A Moroccan Culinary Journey for Queer Women Travelers

Morocco is a feast for the senses, from the rhythmic calls of the medina to the dazzling colors of spice markets. For queer women travelers, the magic of this country isn’t only in its sights and sounds. It’s also found at the table, where food becomes a language of connection, comfort, and belonging.

Moroccan cuisine isn’t just delicious. It’s a cultural handshake, a way to connect with locals, fellow travelers, and the heart of the country itself. Whether you’re savoring a fragrant tagine or sipping mint tea at a queer-friendly café, food here is both nourishment and affirmation.

Traditional Moroccan chicken tagine with olives and lemon, served with mint tea.

Tagine: More Than a Dish

This slow-cooked stew, often made with lamb, chicken, or vegetables, takes its name from the earthenware pot it’s prepared in. Spiced with cumin, saffron, and cinnamon, every bite tells a story of Morocco’s history and diversity.

Travel Tip: Seek out women-owned or LGBTQ+ friendly eateries in cities like Marrakech and Essaouira. These spaces often welcome travelers warmly and may even introduce you to local queer communities over a shared meal.

Couscous Fridays: A Communal Tradition

Couscous is traditionally served on Fridays after prayers, topped with vegetables, chickpeas, and tender meats, and shared family-style. It’s more than a meal; it’s an act of hospitality.

Inclusive Experience: Boutique riads and cooking schools sometimes host small-group couscous experiences where queer travelers can connect over culture and conversation.

Spiced Moroccan merguez sausage with roasted onions and apples.

Street Food: The Pulse of the Medina

From sizzling merguez sausages to sweet chebakia pastries, Moroccan street food is an adventure in itself. Wandering through Jemaa el-Fnaa in Marrakech at night offers not just flavor, but music, laughter, and life all around you.

Safety Note: While public displays of affection are generally avoided, enjoying food markets side-by-side with a partner is comfortable in busy tourist areas.

Mint Tea: Morocco’s Welcome in a Glass

Sweet, aromatic mint tea is the country’s signature drink, poured high and with flair. It’s more than refreshment; it’s a symbol of friendship and respect.

Connection Tip: Queer-friendly cafés in larger cities often pair mint tea with live music or art, creating safe and welcoming spaces for cultural exchange.

Final Serving

Moroccan cuisine is an open invitation to savor, to connect, and to share. For queer women travelers, every bite is a reminder that joy and community are universal languages. Meals become bridges, and each shared table is a story waiting to unfold.

A Fearless Lesbian Traveler’s Guide to Portugal

Tourist in Lisbon taking photo of iconic yellow tram in summer.

Portugal is more than just pastel de nata and Fado music, it’s one of Europe’s most LGBTQ+ friendly destinations, offering a rich blend of history, culture, and coastal beauty that warmly welcomes queer travelers. For lesbian and sapphic-identifying women, Portugal offers a unique space to explore freely, romantically, and unapologetically. Whether you’re chasing sunsets on the Algarve coast or dancing the night away in Lisbon’s queer bars, this country has something for every kind of traveler.

Why Portugal is a Top Destination for Lesbian Travelers

Portugal consistently ranks high in LGBTQ+ safety and equality indexes. Same-sex marriage has been legal since 2010, and anti-discrimination laws are well-established. From vibrant cities to sleepy seaside towns, locals tend to be open-minded and welcoming, especially in areas popular with tourists.

Top Destinations

Colorful Pena Palace in Sintra, Portugal, under blue sky.

Lisbon: Where Queer Meets Cool

Lisbon is the heart of Portugal’s queer scene. The Principe Real neighborhood is the unofficial LGBTQ+ district, packed with queer-owned cafés, vintage shops, and bars. For nightlife, Finalmente Club and Trumps offer inclusive vibes and drag shows. Lesbian-friendly spots include Purex Club, Pavillhão Chinês, and pop-up events hosted by Lesboa Party—a must-follow on Instagram for local events.

Porto: Romance with a Northern Twist

Porto, with its cobbled streets and scenic river views, is perfect for couples. While smaller than Lisbon, it has a budding queer scene. Head to Café Lusitano for a sophisticated night out or Pride Bar Porto for something more casual. Porto is also an ideal base for wine-tasting tours—yes, sipping Douro Valley reds with your partner is a vibe.

Algarve: Sun, Sea, and Serenity

For those who prefer beaches and quiet getaways, the Algarve’s southern coastline is lesbian-friendly and laid-back. Lagos and Albufeira have beach clubs and resorts that welcome queer couples. The summer season often brings pop-up queer beach parties—so keep an eye on local event listings.

Lesbian-Owned & Queer-Friendly Businesses

Portugal is home to a growing number of lesbian and queer-women-owned accommodations and travel businesses. Consider booking with:

  • The Late Birds Lisbon (queer-owned boutique hotel, very welcoming to women)

  • Pink Lisbon Hostel (quirky, artsy, and centrally located)

  • Salty Souls Retreats (yoga and surf retreats open to queer women)

Pro tip: Always check Airbnb and Booking for listings with LGBTQ+ tags or reach out to hosts for clarity. Many Portuguese hosts are allies and happy to confirm a safe, welcoming stay.

Travel Tips for Lesbian Couples in Portugal

PDA is generally safe in urban and tourist areas, though smaller towns may still lean conservative. As always, read the room and trust your instincts.

Public transport is LGBTQ+ friendly, especially in Lisbon and Porto. Rideshares like Bolt or Uber are safe options for getting home after a night out.

Language tip: While many locals speak English, learning a few Portuguese phrases like “namorada” (girlfriend) or “casal” (couple) can help normalize queer identities in conversation.

Final Ramblings

Portugal isn’t just a destination, it’s a feeling. It’s the freedom of holding your partner’s hand under Lisbon’s golden hour, the thrill of meeting other queer travelers on the dance floor, and the peace of knowing you’re seen and safe. For lesbian travelers seeking authenticity, adventure, and affirmation—Portugal delivers.

Bikinis, Beats, and Beaches: Brazil’s Sun-Drenched Paradise for Lesbian Travelers

There are few places in the world where the sun kisses the sea as fiercely as it does in Brazil. With its world-famous beaches, pulsing rhythms, and effortless sensuality, Brazil offers more than just a vacation, it’s an unapologetic celebration of life. And for lesbian travelers seeking both adventure and affirmation, this South American gem opens its arms with bold color and undeniable charm.

Queer women travelling in Brazil, smiling in sun hats.

A Country That Dances to Its Own Rhythm

From the samba-filled streets of Rio de Janeiro to the lush coastline of Bahia, Brazil exudes an energy that is magnetic and inviting. It's not just the tropical weather or the irresistible beats of bossa nova echoing down the beachside bars, but how strangers become friends over a caipirinha, and how sunsets seem to last forever.

For LGBTQ+ travelers, especially lesbians, Brazil is a complex but exhilarating destination. While the country’s relationship with queer rights has its layers, the beach remains a sanctuary, a place where bodies, identities, and self-expression are not just welcomed, but revered.

The Bikini — A Symbol of Freedom

In Brazil, bikinis are more than just swimwear. They are liberation.

Brazilian bikinis are famously bold, but their true power lies in what they represent: confidence, celebration of all body types, and freedom from shame. Whether you’re on the golden sands of Copacabana or diving into Ipanema’s turquoise waves, everybody is a bikini body.

For queer women who have been told to take up less space, Brazil flips the script. Here, the beach invites you to stand tall, show up exactly as you are, and own your presence under the sun.

Iconic Brazilian coastline and mountains, perfect for LGBTQ+ travel.

Queer-Friendly Beach Spots You’ll Love

While Rio de Janeiro is often the poster child of Brazilian beach life, several spots around the country cater specifically to LGBTQ+ travelers. Here are some lesbian-friendly havens where you can soak up the sun without shrinking who you are:

  • Praia de Ipanema (Rio de Janeiro): Particularly at “Posto 9,” the rainbow crowd gathers in full glory. Look for the rainbow flags and you’ll find a beautiful mix of queer locals and travelers mingling freely.

  • Praia Mole (Florianópolis): A laid-back beach with surf-worthy waves and one of Brazil’s most open-minded crowds. There are lesbian-owned guesthouses nearby that make it a perfect escape.

  • Ilha Grande: A serene island destination perfect for couples or solo travelers looking for beauty without the chaos. It’s a less commercial but wonderfully welcoming escape.

  • Salvador, Bahia: With its Afro-Brazilian soul, Salvador is a culturally rich haven. The beaches here are warm, festive, and carry deep spiritual roots. Queer joy is deeply embedded in its vibrant street culture.

The Beat of Belonging

What makes Brazil truly special isn’t just the landscape, it’s the sound. The beats of Brazil, whether it’s the pounding rhythm of Carnival drums or the soft sway of forró, carry a kind of electricity that lives in the air and skin. For lesbian travelers, especially those who have been othered or silenced in their own communities, Brazil’s music and dance are liberating forces. They invite you to feel rather than think, to move rather than hide.

And at night? The party continues in queer-friendly bars, women-only events, and underground scenes that are as eclectic as they are affirming. Rio and São Paulo are known for their progressive nightlife, with many spaces led by and for queer women. No judgment…just joy!

LGBTQ+ friendly celebration with vibrant costumes and music.

Final Thoughts

Brazil isn’t just a destination, it’s a reckoning. It invites you to be loud, proud, and sun-soaked. For lesbian travelers seeking not just beaches, but belonging, Brazil delivers both in waves. Whether you're dancing barefoot in the sand, flirting over frozen drinks, or just basking in your own boldness, there’s no better place to fall in love with life, or with someone else, than under the Brazilian sun.

So go ahead, pack that bikini, bring your favorite playlist, and let Brazil be the backdrop for your boldest, most authentic self yet.

Join a Ladies Touch group trip and explore Brazil, where every beach welcomes you, every rhythm moves you, and every moment celebrates who you are.

How Group Travel Helps Queer Women Heal, Laugh, and Live Louder

Queer women enjoying beach group trip with joyful energy and peace.

For many queer women, travel isn’t just about ticking destinations off a bucket list. It’s about finding spaces where they can breathe freely, be fully themselves, and connect with people who get it. Group travel especially made for LGBTQ+ women is more than a vacation; it’s a path to healing, joy, and deep affirmation.

1. Safety in Numbers = Peace of Mind

Let’s be real…navigating the world as a queer woman can feel like walking a tightrope. Some destinations may be gorgeous, but the legal and social realities on the ground can make them risky. Group trips designed for LGBTQ+ women create a secure environment where you don’t have to second-guess how you dress, who you hold hands with, or what pronouns you use. A group where you belong without prejudice. You’re surrounded by people who see you and support you. That alone can be deeply healing.

2. Shared Laughter Is Powerful Medicine

There’s something about laughing with people who understand your inside jokes, references, and fears. Group travel with other queer women invites those moments of belly-aching laughter over awkward translation errors, chaotic airport experiences, or flirty glances with a cute local. The joy feels deeper because it’s shared in the community. And after years, decades even, of playing it small, laughing out loud in safe company is revolutionary.

Queer women exploring global cultures through food, animals, and heritage sites.

3. Healing Through Connection

Trauma often isolates. Whether it’s familial rejection, societal erasure, or the pressure to shrink ourselves in public, even a romantic connection that ended up with being ghosted, queer women carry wounds. But something powerful happens when you’re in a space where you can simply be yourself. You meet others who’ve walked through the same fire. Healing doesn’t happen in a therapy room alone—it happens on a beach in Greece, during a group dinner in Thailand, or on a sunrise hike in Costa Rica. You realize you’re not alone, and you never were.

4. Living Louder, On Your Own Terms

When you’re traveling in a queer-friendly group, you get to live fully without looking over your shoulder. You can dance without toning yourself down. You can flirt, cry, joke, and celebrate—all without code-switching! The version of you that shows up on these trips? She’s bold, unfiltered, and radiant. And sometimes, you carry her back home with you.

5. Friendships That Go the Distance

These aren’t just trip mates. They’re people who become your chosen family. You bond over shared queer joy, long travel days, and that one time someone lost their passport (but found it five minutes later in their fanny pack). You leave the trip with new friends in different parts of the world—and that alone makes the world feel a little less scary and a lot more beautiful.

Queer women celebrating pride with laughter, drinks, and unity.

Final Flare

Group travel gives queer women more than new stamps in their passports. It gives them laughter without apology, healing in motion, and the courage to live louder. For once, the world isn’t something to survive—it’s something to enjoy. Live boldly.

Ready to find your people and your passport stamp? Join a Ladies’ Touch Group Trip where every laugh, story, and destination brings you closer to yourself! ✨

Setting Sail with Pride and Style in a Yacht Girl Summer

There’s something transformative about cruising open waters, with the wind in your hair, champagne in hand, and the sun glittering off the waves like confetti from the universe. But for queer women, a yacht trip isn’t just luxury, it’s liberation. It’s a chance to show up, stand tall, and live loudly, all while soaking in the saltwater serenity and letting the sea set the pace.

Luxury yacht sailing on blue ocean during a queer women’s summer escape

What is a Yacht Girl Summer?

Yacht Girl Summer is about joy, softness, freedom, and chosen family. It's reclaiming luxury on our terms — trading club noise for sea breeze, toxic norms for affirming conversations, and cramped city spaces for endless horizons.

Imagine that you're with a group of like-minded queer women on a luxurious yacht. You've got your playlist, your SPF, and no pressure to be anyone but your fullest self. A place where you can express your own identity, but fancy!

Why a Yacht Trip Hits Different for Queer Women

  • You Get Space: Literally and Emotionally

    •  Being on a yacht offers a rare kind of privacy. No awkward stares. No holding back your laughter or your hand-holding. Just you, your people, and the sea.

  • It Builds Community in Motion

    • Group travel on water creates a rhythm of bonding. Whether you're dancing under the stars or helping each other steer (figuratively or literally), there’s a softness in the way queer women care for each other on these trips.

  • It’s a Reclamation of Joy

    • For so many queer folks, joy hasn’t always been safe. Yacht Girl Summer says: you deserve the soft life. You deserve to play, rest, and celebrate without apology.

Queer women enjoying a yacht party during a pride-filled summer getaway

What to Expect on a Queer Yacht Trip

  • Curated Queer Vibes: From LGBTQ+ friendly destinations to affirming hosts, these trips are made for us, by us.

  • Chic but Chill Outfits: Think linen, bikinis, mesh, bold prints — whatever makes you feel free.

  • Sunset Talks and Sunrise Dips: Prepare for conversations that go deep, and mornings that cleanse more than just your skin.

Yacht Etiquette (aka Being Hot and Considerate)

  • Respect space and consent. Intimacy blooms best when it’s rooted in trust.

  • Be open to new friendships. The ocean has a funny way of bringing soulmates together.

  • Tip your crew. Queer liberation includes fair labor practices.

Rainbow Reflections

A Yacht Girl Summer isn’t about showing off,  it’s about showing up. For yourself. For your community. For the version of you that’s always dreamed of living this boldly. So book the trip, pack the mesh shirt, and let yourself be loud, soft, wild, and completely unbothered. The sea is calling, come aboard!

Packing, Prepping & Thriving: Your First Group Trip as an LGBTQ+ Woman

Solo female traveller watching hot air balloons at sunrise

Let’s explore how LGBTQ+ women can feel prepared, confident, and connected on their next group travel adventure, from what to pack to what to expect.

Booked your spot on a group trip designed for LGBTQ+ women? Amazing. Whether it's your first time or you're a seasoned explorer, group travel can feel both exciting and overwhelming. The good news? You’re stepping into a space where connection, community, and celebration come first.

So, what should you pack? How should you prepare? And what really happens when you land in a place you’ve never been—surrounded by people you’ve never met?

Let’s break it down.

Step 1: Pack What Makes You Feel Like You

Forget just the basics. Your suitcase is your travel toolkit, and it should reflect who you are.

  • Bring what empowers your identity
Pack that one outfit that makes you feel like your full, radiant self. For some, it’s a headwrap. For others, a killer pair of heels or a binder. It’s about expression, not expectation.

  • Tuck in a few personal touches
Bring a journal for reflections, a small pride token for grounding, or even a local snack or trinket from home to share with others. These small things make big memories.

Pro tip: Travel games or playlists make great icebreakers, especially if you're on the introverted side.

Packing checklist for travel with essentials and clothes

Step 2: Prep with Intention

It’s more than just ticking off a checklist—it’s about getting ready mentally, emotionally, and logistically.

  • Double-check the travel essentials
Make sure your passport’s valid, scan copies of key documents, and know what’s required at immigration. If your name or presentation might cause questions, prepare how you’ll navigate that confidently.

  • Understand the destination
Even in inclusive destinations, cultural norms can vary. Research the local LGBTQ+ scene—not just for safety but also to find hidden gems that celebrate your identity.

  • Ground yourself in group energy
You’ll be sharing space with other LGBTQ+ women from all walks of life. Come open, curious, and ready to listen and connect.

Step 3: Expect More Than Just a Trip

Group travel isn’t just logistics and sightseeing—it’s transformation.

  • You’ll feel seen without explanation
There’s something magical about being in a space where you don’t have to code-switch or dilute who you are. From the start, you’re part of a chosen community.

  • The schedule will have room for you
These trips usually blend adventure with introspection. You’ll have time for both adrenaline and stillness—plus moments that let you just be.

  • Authentic connections, not just photo ops
Whether it's dining at a queer-owned café, dancing with locals, or chatting over breakfast, these aren’t cookie-cutter experiences. They’re stories you’ll keep.

Final Tips to Thrive

  • Pack light, emotionally too
Leave expectations behind—especially about how you “should” show up.

  • Hydrate, stretch, and rest
Because joy and jet lag are a combo. Make space for your body to feel good.

  • Say yes to connection
Sit next to someone new. Ask the personal question. Offer a compliment. Those little moments spark lifelong bonds.

This isn’t just a holiday. It’s a space that sees you, affirms you, and invites you to take up space fully. Group travel for LGBTQ+ women is about freedom, community, and showing up as your whole self.

You don’t need to have it all figured out—Join a Ladies Touch group trip.

Let the journey begin.

Why Curaçao Is the Caribbean’s Most Underrated LGBTQ+ Paradise

Sunshine. Freedom. Community. Curaçao has all the makings of your next queer getaway.

When you think of LGBTQ+ friendly travel in the Caribbean, Curaçao might not be the first place that comes to mind. But maybe it should be. This colorful Dutch-Caribbean island has quietly become one of the region’s most welcoming destinations for queer travellers, offering more than just beaches and cocktails.

Here’s why Curaçao deserves a top spot on your travel list.

1. A Caribbean Island That Actually Celebrates You

Unlike many Caribbean countries where LGBTQ+ travelers must tread carefully, Curaçao proudly promotes itself as a queer-friendly destination. Locals are warm, inclusive, and genuinely curious. The sense of acceptance is real.

You won’t just find rainbow flags at Pride, though Curaçao does host one. You’ll notice the inclusivity in everyday life, from the way people greet you to how partners hold hands without second glances. The island opens its arms without question.

Curaçao legally protects LGBTQ+ rights and actively encourages inclusivity within its tourism sector, and that kind of support truly matters.

2. Willemstad Feels Like Queer Art Come to Life

Imagine strolling through streets lined with candy-colored buildings, historic forts, and vibrant local markets. Willemstad, the capital, is more than a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s a space where creativity thrives and queer self-expression is welcomed.

Whether you're browsing chic boutiques, sipping cocktails by the water, or taking selfies in front of massive murals, Willemstad feels like a place made for bold stories, soft moments, and full self-expression.

3. The LGBTQ+ Scene Is Small But Real

Curaçao doesn’t boast a massive queer nightlife scene, but that’s part of its charm. What exists feels more like community than chaos. From queer-friendly beach clubs and low-key bars to private mixers and monthly events, the island provides genuine, welcoming spaces.

You might find yourself chatting with locals over drinks in Pietermaai or dancing with new friends at a villa gathering. And during Pride or Ladies Touch group trips, the whole island transforms into one joyful, celebratory space.

4. The Nature is Breathtaking, and the Vibe is Freeing

Curaçao is for the adventurers and the dreamers. Picture snorkelling in clear turquoise waters, sailing to quiet beaches, or hiking through desert-like landscapes dotted with cacti and caves. There’s a sense of freedom here that invites you to let go of the weight you might carry elsewhere.

Jan Thiel Beach, in particular, offers a perfect blend of chill and celebration. Whether you're lounging with a drink or dancing barefoot by the water, the energy feels both relaxed and affirming.

5. You’ll Leave With More Than Just Photos

Curaçao often becomes more than just a destination—it becomes a moment of transformation. For many of our Ladies Touch travellers, it’s where chosen family begins to form. It's where solo travellers find deep connections, and group joy feels effortless.

From villa dinners that turn into storytelling circles to impromptu beach dance parties, the experiences here stay with you. Curaçao gives you space to feel whole, soft, and safe.

Final Thought: Curaçao Isn’t “Up-and-Coming”—It’s Already Here
While other destinations are still figuring out how to support queer travelers, Curaçao is already doing it with heart. For LGBTQ+ women looking for a destination that blends beauty, culture, and genuine belonging, this island checks every box.

So if you’re craving sunshine and queer joy in equal measure, Curaçao is waiting.

Beyond the Plate: How Food Connects LGBTQ+ Women Across Cultures

Grilled vegetables and sauces on a vibrant picnic spread for LGBTQ+ group travel

When queer women travel, we’re often looking for more than a passport stamp or sightseeing checklist. We’re searching for connection, for the feeling of being seen, safe, and understood. And one of the most powerful ways that feeling shows up is through food.

Whether it’s a home-cooked dish in a new friend’s kitchen or a bite shared at a Pride café, food becomes our bridge into culture and community. For LGBTQ+ women, a meal isn’t just about flavor—it’s about belonging.

1. Food is often our first introduction to queer culture

Before we find the club or the queer meetup, we often find the food.
Cafés owned by queer women. Dinners hosted by activist collectives. Pride-themed pop-ups that serve more than just drinks.

These spaces give us more than a full stomach: they give us that moment of “I belong here.” A simple dish shared with someone who gets your story can feel like coming out all over again—but this time, with comfort and celebration.

2. A shared table builds a connection across borders

You don’t need to speak the same language to share a table.
Street food in Bangkok. Tacos with queer locals in Mexico City. Pasta in a lesbian-owned Roman trattoria. These meals become our first friendships in foreign places.

One bite becomes a conversation. A second helping becomes trust. That table becomes a bridge between cultures, identities, and lived experiences.

3. Queer food culture is rooted in resistance

For queer communities, especially women, food has always been more than survival—it’s a form of protest.
From underground potlucks to chosen-family brunches, meals have long been a way to claim space, honor identity, and say, “we’re still here.”

To feed someone in our community is to care for them, protect them, and build something powerful together.

4. Queer-owned food spaces are sacred and safe

Queer women are creating cafés, supper clubs, and pop-ups that do more than serve good food—they nourish queer joy.
Here are just a few worth knowing:

  • El Cafecito, Mexico City – Queer women-led café focused on activism and visibility

  • Wildflower Café, London – Trans-inclusive vegan café and creative community space

  • The Butchery, Melbourne – Butch-led food pop-up serving nostalgic comfort food

These places are more than businesses, they’re home.

5. Meals on the road often lead to chosen family

For solo travellers, it’s the shared moments over a meal that stick.
A bánh mì split with a stranger in Saigon. A surprise picnic during Pride in Lisbon. An invite to dinner in Lima that turns into a night of laughter and lifelong friendship.

The most meaningful moments from our travels aren’t always the landmarks or itineraries. They’re the meals we shared, the flavors we remember, and the people we met around the table.

For LGBTQ+ women, food is the story we tell. It’s the home we carry. It’s the invitation to belong, even far from home.

Our group trips are designed to bring queer women together through experiences that matter—from markets to home kitchens to local LGBTQ+ food spaces. Join us and discover what happens when you give everyone a seat at the table.

Reclaiming Independence: A Queer Woman’s Guide to Liberating Travel with Ladies Touch

Group of LGBTQ+ friends celebrating pride and queer joy under a rainbow flag in the city

Independence Day isn’t just about fireworks and national pride. For queer women, it can be a deeply personal moment to redefine what freedom really means — in your body, your identity, and the way you move through the world.

At Ladies Touch, we believe travel is one of the most powerful ways to reclaim that freedom. It’s not just about seeing new places. It’s about being seen — fully, safely, and joyfully — in spaces that celebrate every part of who you are.

This July, instead of focusing only on traditional notions of independence, reflect on what it means to live freely in your truth. What does it look like to feel safe? To feel soft? To feel powerful? Let’s explore how travel can be a gateway to personal liberation.

1. Liberation Begins With Community

Mainstream independence often centres on doing things alone. But for queer women, true freedom is found in community.

When you join a Ladies Touch trip, you’re not just exploring a new destination. You’re joining a sisterhood. It’s the unfiltered laughter at breakfast, the shared playlists on the bus, and the quiet comfort of being around women who get it.

Freedom means travelling without needing to explain yourself.

2. You Deserve Joy Without Apology

You’ve already spent enough time managing how you show up in the world. Queer-centred travel gives you space to exhale.

Whether you're dancing under the stars in Dubai, sipping wine in Peru, or floating through Bali with your chosen family, every joyful moment becomes a radical act of self-love. You get to take up space with ease.

Freedom means being soft, bold, curious, and alive — all at once.

3. Visibility Creates Possibility

When queer women show up fully, we don’t just take up space — we make space.

By travelling with pride, you remind others that queer joy doesn’t have to be hidden. You create ripples of visibility, connection, and hope. In destinations like Egypt, Vietnam, or Puerto Vallarta, your presence helps shift what is possible.

Freedom means being proud of who you are and sharing that with the world.

4. Your Journey Can Be Revolutionary

Reclaiming your independence doesn’t have to look like a solo flight across the world. It might mean:

  • Saying yes to your first group trip

  • Trying something that scares you (just a little)

  • Opening up to strangers who feel like soulmates by Day 2

You get to write your own story. You get to travel in ways that honor your identity and expand your world.

Freedom means creating a life that feels honest and expansive.

5. You Don’t Need to Wait

Queer women are often taught to delay joy — to wait for a partner, for permission, or for the perfect timing.

But here’s the truth: you are ready now. The trip doesn’t have to be epic to be transformative. Your decision to go is the moment everything shifts.

Freedom means saying yes to your own desire. No justification needed.

Final Thought: This July, Redefine What Freedom Feels Like

Independence isn’t just a date on the calendar. It’s a feeling in your chest, a spark in your step, and a connection to a world that finally feels made for you.

This July, celebrate not just where you live, but how you live. Choose joy. Choose a connection. Choose travel that celebrates you in all your queer brilliance.

Queer Bites: Must-Try Dishes From Our Favorite Travel Destinations

Vibrant Indian cuisine spread featuring curries, samosas, and grilled appetisers.

Food isn’t just fuel. It’s a love language, a cultural bridge, and sometimes even a quiet act of rebellion.

For LGBTQ+ women, travel is more than visiting new places — connecting through shared moments, flavors, and memories. At Ladies Touch, we believe food is one of the most powerful ways to feel rooted, seen, and celebrated while exploring the world.

So whether you’re clinking glasses under the stars in Egypt or sharing a spicy street snack in Vietnam, these dishes tell a story that’s seasoned with joy, culture, and a little bit of queerness.

Shrimp tacos with melted cheese and peppers served on a wooden board

1. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico:

Tacos Gobernador - The Beachside Bite That Feels Like Home
This Mexican coastal town is a queer favorite for a reason. Beyond its sun-soaked beaches and vibrant nightlife, Puerto Vallarta serves tacos that speak to the soul. Tacos Gobernador — filled with shrimp, melted cheese, and poblano peppers — are perfect after a swim, a sunset walk, or a flirtatious dance by the ocean.

Why this matters: It’s not just food. It’s the moment you feel fully relaxed, open, and connected, with salsa on your chin and new friends at your side.

Egyptian koshari topped with chickpeas, crispy onions, and tomato sauce in a white bowl

2. Egypt:

Koshari - Comfort in a Bowl After a Day of Wonder
Koshari is Egypt’s national comfort dish, and after exploring pyramids, ancient temples, or floating down the Nile, it hits the spot like nothing else. A hearty mix of lentils, rice, pasta, tomato sauce, and crispy onions, it’s layered with flavour and surprisingly vegan-friendly.

Why this matters: Travel is tiring. Koshari is your reward. It’s warm, grounding, and reminds you that care can be simple and satisfying — like the support of queer women travelling together.

Balinese nasi campur with grilled meat, rice, vegetables, and spicy sambal toppings

3. Bali, Indonesia:

Nasi Campur - A Little Bit of Everything, Just Like Us
Nasi Campur means “mixed rice,” and each plate is a colorful surprise — from satay and tofu to tempeh and spicy sambal. In Bali, meals are often shared, laid out like love letters from the chef to your belly. Eating here feels slow, intentional, and sacred.

Why this matters: It mirrors what group travel offers — a mix of flavors, personalities, and stories that somehow all fit together. You don’t need to choose one identity. You get to be all of it.

Vietnamese bánh mì with grilled pork, pickled vegetables, and fresh herbs on a baguette

4. Vietnam:

Bánh Mì - Bold Flavor, Bold You
This crunchy, spicy, sweet, and savory sandwich is Vietnam’s culinary anthem. Made with a crisp baguette and filled with meats or tofu, pickled vegetables, and herbs, it’s fast, filling, and flavor-packed. Perfect for a quick bite before exploring street markets or taking a rooftop photo with your travel fam.

Why this matters: It reminds you that queer joy can be loud, layered, and unapologetically flavorful. It’s about taking up space, one bite at a time.

Final Thought: Shared Plates, Shared Stories

Every trip leaves you with memories. But food is the part you carry with you long after your flight home. These dishes aren’t just delicious — they’re part of the queer joy we create when we travel together.

You don’t need rainbow flags to feel seen. Sometimes, all it takes is the clink of forks, the warmth of shared stories, and the laughter that echoes after a good meal.
